Tsav Reveals The Effect Of Saraki’s Trial On Nigeria

Alhaji Abubakar Tsav, a former commissioner of
police in Lagos state has revealed that the ongoing
trial of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, at the
Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) is dangerous for the
country, Daily Post report.
The former commissioner of police made the
revelation during a chat with newsmen in Makurdi,
Benue state capital on Thursday, September 24.
He warned that the country may be reverting to the
days of former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, “when
anti-corruption agencies were engaged in selective
probes considering the circumstances shrouding
Saraki’s ordeal.”
Speaking further, he said the probe is a witch-hunt,
and questioned why it was not done a long time ago.
Alhaji Abubakar-Tsav, former commissioner of police
Lagos state.
“Why did they not take it up when he was in PDP and
romancing with the APC? I think we are creating a
very dangerous trend in this country. Why did they
wait until after 13 years before probing him? Why did
they have to wait until he became the senate president
before probing him?” he asked.
Meanwhile, Bola Tinubu, former governor of Lagos
state and national leader of the All progressives
Congress (APC) in his reaction to the ongoing trial of
Saraki said that President Muhammadu Buhari’s
government cannot overlook certain things in its fight
against corruption.
The ongoing trial of the Senate president has
generated a lot of bad blood among supporters and
haters of Saraki as it was reported on Thursday,
September 24, that he was stoned in Ilorin, capital of
Kwara state as he arrived for Muslim Eid al-Adha
prayers but the Senate president has denied that such
thing never happened.
As reactions continue to trail the probe of Saraki, chief
Kenneth Gbagi, a former Minister of State for
Education has said that if Saraki loved his honour,
dignity and integrity, he would not stay a day longer
in office.
It was an unbelievable reality on September 22, when
the Senate president was docked for a 13-count
charge of corruption levelled against him by the Code
of Conduct Bureau following his asset declaration. But
despite the ongoing trial of Saraki, the senate on
Tuesday pledged their full support to him .
