Sokoto APC Demands PMB To Throw Aisha Out Of TheList

The Sokoto state chapter of the APC party has
sent an official letter demanding that
Muhammadu Buhari erases Aisha Abubakar’s
name from the list of the ministerial nominees
on the grounds she is not even a party
member.
Abubakar should be erased from #TheList,
insist Sokoto state APC leaders
Tensions are rising around Aisha Abubakar’s
nomination for the ministerial position. Shortly
after the All Progressives Congress chapter in
Sokoto state rejected her candidature , the APC
leaders in the state have sent Muhammadu
Buhari the letter, officially demanding he reject
the nomination of Aisha Abubakar for a
ministerial position on the grounds that she is
not even a card-carrying member of the party.
The APC leaders in Sokoto state insist that her
nomination violates the constitution of Nigeria
as well as the conventions of the ruling party.
They sent Buhari the letter signed by twenty
three local government chairmen of the party in
Sokoto, demanding to replace Aisha Abubakar
with any other relevant nominee, no matter
male of female.
“ Miss Aisha Abubakar, the ministerial nominee
from Sokoto was never a member of the All
Progressives Congress (APC) for her to be
qualified and if at all she is a member of any
political party circumstantially she must be a
member of the opposition Peoples Democratic
Party (PDP), ” they stated in their letter to
Buhari, also adding: “ given the fact that her
uncle Col. Sambo Dasuki (Rtd), the National
Security Adviser, NSA to former president
Goodluck Jonathan was more than anyone else
personified efforts to ensure the victory of the
PDP in Sokoto state, the north west zone and
Nigeria, it is equally a notorious fact that he
maximally used his then official position to
ensure that APC lost elections inclusive of the
use of cohesion against members of the APC in
Sokoto state.”
The rejection of Aisha Abubakar came after the
party held a stakeholders meeting with
Governor Aminu Tambuwal.
The state chairman of the ruling party, Usman
Danmadamin-Isa, who addressed newsmen
shortly after the meeting, said that the decision
to reject Abubakar was unanimous.
Danmadamin-Isa said: “ The meeting had
discussed the nomination of one lady called
Aisha as the nominee from Sokoto state and we
have rejected her nomination. We have out
rightly rejected her nomination because she is
not a card-carrying member of the party in the
state and nobody knows her, while she knows
nobody in the state.”
On Thursday, October 15, the Senate received a
petition against the ministerial nominee from
Sokoto state, Aisha Abubakar.
This petition was presented to the Senate by
Ibrahim Gobir representing Sokoto east
senatorial district.
He said the highlight of the petition was that
she was to be replaced by a more competent
representative of the state whereby he laid the
petition on the table of the Senate president,
Bukola Saraki.
He said: “ I have a petition from Sokoto against
the nominee from Sokoto state, Aisha
Abubakar. “
She is not the first nominee to face a petition.
Two ministerial nominees, Rotimi Amaechi
(Rivers state) and Hajiya Amina Mohammed
(Kaduna state) appeared before the Senate
committee on ethics, privileges and public
petitions on Monday, October 12, to respond to
petitions against their nominations as minister.
Besides that, three days ago the APC leaders in
Adamawa claimed that Muhammadu Buhari
made a huge political blunder submitting
Muhammadu Bello from Adamawa state as the
ministerial nominee.
“ As a party, we don’t know the nominee
because as the organizing secretary of the
party who is in charge of registration of
members, I doubt if Bello is even a card
carrying member of the party, ” the organizing
secretary of the APC in Adamawa state, Mallam
Ahmed Lawal, told the press, and he also
claimed that Bello worked against the APC
during the recent general elections.
